Despite its name, Bumblebee Jasper is not a true jasper. It is a rare volcanic rock formed from a combination of calcite, sulphur, realgar, orpiment and other minerals, created in the fumaroles of an ancient volcano.

This remarkable material is found almost exclusively on the island of Java, Indonesia, making it one of the world's most distinctive ornamental stones.
